SE Europe is relatively densely populated, especially in the Neogene basins where large urban centers are mainly located. The issues referring to the quality of life in urban settlements in South East Europe, were the main reason for initiating such a project (urban risk, quality of urban environment, industrial impacts, environmental elements, industrial and municipal waste landfills, etc.). The effects of military activities in the area during the last century and the beginning of this century were also analyzed.
